welcome statement case study cities research methodology research findings and databases network publications

New datasets will be merged into these 'master' data files progressively throughout 2009-2010. Please consult the generic coding guides as appropriate. Also, note that each individual (city) dataset is hosted on the city's own page. These data sets are usually accompanied by detailed settlement descriptions and specific protocols that were applied in each city. In some cities additional questions were applied as part of that city's survey. These data are located at the end of the city dataset but are not included in the 'master' data files which only include questionnaire data that were common to all cities and which are, therefore, directly comparable.

In the meantime see the individual cities.

  • Argentia (Buenos Aires)
  • Brazil (Recife)
  • Chile (Santiago)

    • Santiago Owners Extended Survey Version

    • Owners: These two datasets (owners and complete owners) are for owner households in Santiago. The 'Owners Complete.' includes many of the additional mobility variables that were applied in two of the settlements in Santiago - see the Coding Guides for that City in Research Methodology. The 'Owners Compatible.' dataset is given here separately, but it has also been merged into the overall (merged) dataset with other cities in the LAHN network.

    • Santiago Renters Extended Survey Version

    • Renters: These two datasets are for renters in Santiago. They apply for two of the settlements. No renters were found or interviewed in El Bosque II. The 'Renters Complete.' includes many of the additional mobility variables that were applied in two of the settlements in Santiago - see the Coding Guides for that City in Research Methodology. The 'Renters Compatible.' dataset is data that may be compared with the Mexico renters database although it is not directly comparable and for this reason has not been merged with the Mexico renters datasets. However, both files contain relatively few cases (16)
  • Colombia (Bogotá)
  • Guatemala (Guatemala City)

    • Coding and Instruments for Surveys Presented Here:

    • SPSSGuatemala:

      • "La Florida" case:
This file contains the individual level data (age, place and sector of work, etc.) for individuals within the household. Individuals are coded in relation to a single head of household and there is a variable associating them with the particular household which they form a part of. Both renters and owners are included in this set.

      • Guate La Florida (Owners) :
This file contains household level data on owners in La Florida. The survey was conducted in July of 2009.

      • Guate La Florida (Renters) :
This file contains household level data on renters in La Florida. The survey was conducted in July of 2009.

  • Mexico (Mexico City)
  • Mexico (Monterrey): This is the latest SPSS file for the Monterrey Study -- owners and renters (but note the Monterrey renters files has few cases. See the Merged Renters datafiles above)
